Vic’s Espresso/Peerless 2009 Rider Photo and Profile Randy Gaffney Race Age: 58 Years Racing: 33 Hometown: Swaledale, Iowa Occupation: Mortgage Broker Growing up in Iowa, Randy would ride his Schwinn Continental everywhere he could; racing seemed to be the next logical step. Randy said, if he were not riding on bicycles, he would be “wrenching on bicycles.” Randy was a previous owner of the Morgul-Bismark bicycle shop in Boulder, CO. After the Coors Classic ended 1988, Randy, together with Davis Phinney, Ron Kiefel and Art Allen opened the bike shop on University Hill in Boulder. The shop was named after the popular cycling loop in the South Boulder area that was featured in the Red Zinger, the Coors Classic, and in the movie American Flyers. Randy Gaffney has been racing bikes for 33 years, in hundreds of races, in many states across the United States. His favorite bike ride is the Million Dollar View Road, North Island, New Zealand. Randy has a dream of someday traveling to New Zealand to live and ride for a season or two.
